Uptake of COMPUS Messages and Tools: as of February 2009

The variety of ready-to-use products and tools developed by COMPUS to assist decision makers and educators in conveying COMPUS key messages on PPIs is being widely used across Canada. Here are some examples of how COMPUS is supporting decision makers toward optimal drug therapy:


Provincial Policy Changes / Review of Drug Plan Status


Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, and Prince Edward Island improved access to PPIs, informed by COMPUS’s work; two provinces - Ontario and Saskatchewan - have existing policies that are aligned with COMPUS recommendations; several provinces are currently reviewing policies

Implementation of COMPUS products and messages will occur over time, and not uniformly across Canada. A number of factors are involved in implementing interventions, including scheduling, budgeting, identifying resources, and unique jurisdictional requirements.
